Special Agent Will Trent returns to ABC for a third season, and if the premiere title, “I’m a Guest Here,” is any indication, he’s not exactly thrilled to be back. After a self-imposed exile from Atlanta, Will is reluctantly pulled back into the fold when two off-duty cops are shot. The case quickly becomes personal, forcing Will to confront his complicated past to clear a friend’s name.
The show, based on Karin Slaughter’s novels, has always been more than just a standard procedural. Will’s traumatic upbringing in the foster care system informs his unique perspective on crime and justice, and the premiere looks to further explore that aspect of his character. Expect plenty of tense interrogations, twisty plot developments, and, of course, Will’s trademark unorthodox methods.
This season also digs into the murky world of police corruption and rivalries. Will’s outsider status will undoubtedly clash with the established power structures, making for some potentially explosive confrontations.
“Will Trent” airs Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 10 PM ET on ABC.
