ABC’s daytime talk staple, “The View,” is making a play for weekend viewership with a new streaming show, “The Weekend View.” Launching on January 11th, the half-hour program will feature the regular Friday panel – Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Ana Navarro – tackling entertainment and social media buzz.
This move marks a significant expansion for “The View,” which has held the position of America’s most-watched daytime talk show for five consecutive seasons. The show’s producers are clearly looking to leverage their popularity and explore new avenues for reaching viewers, especially as the consumption of content continues to evolve.
“The Weekend View” will air Saturdays and be replayed throughout the weekend. Beyond the usual “Hot Topics” discussions, the show will also include “Behind The Table” segments with executive producer Brian Teta and the co-hosts which will examine specific pop-culture stories. RoC Skincare has signed on as the exclusive sponsor, making this the first series on ABC News Live to have a brand integration.
According to ABC, the main show has seen its most-watched linear season in four years, and the network is keen to capitalize on the show’s success across various platforms from podcasts to YouTube, and now with this dedicated weekend streaming option. The new series will stream on ABC News Live and ABC Owned Television Stations 24/7 streaming channels. ABC News Live is available on Disney+, Hulu, YouTube, ABCNews.com, the ABC News and ABC News Live apps and several other platforms.
