Women in Blue Renewed at Apple TV+; Season 2 of Spanish-Language Crime Drama Now in Production

Women in Blue Key Art

Apple TV+ is staying in business with Women in Blue, handing out a second-season order for the Spanish-language crime drama from Lemon Studios. Production is underway on the next chapter of the series, which centers on Mexico’s first female police force and returns with eight new episodes and an all-Latin American cast.

Bárbara Mori reprises her lead role as María, who begins the new season promoted to lieutenant and pulled into a new investigation in 1971 Mexico City. Season 2 finds María and her fellow officers confronting a string of murders that point toward a broader, more dangerous conspiracy—raising the stakes in a show that mixes police procedural, dark comedy, and political undercurrents.

The renewal comes as Apple TV+ continues to invest in international originals that can punch above their weight, particularly in Spanish-speaking markets. The first season of Women in Blue drew attention for its tonal range and character work, built around a true historical premise: the creation of Mexico’s first all-women police unit.

Created by Fernando Rovzar and Pablo Aramendi, the series returns with executive producers Wendy Riss, Erica Sánchez Su, and Billy Rovzar. It’s produced by International Emmy winner Lemon Studios, which has been active in the global streaming space and remains a key supplier for Apple TV+’s Latin American pipeline.

The core cast also returns—Ximena Sariñana, Natalia Téllez, and Amorita Rasgado join Mori for the new arc, which explores institutional corruption, systemic misogyny, and the costs of progress, all through the lens of four women trying to rewrite the rules in a male-dominated force.

Season 1 is available now on Apple TV+. No premiere date yet for Season 2.
