Wrestling Docuseries “Monster Factory” Premieres March 17 on Apple TV+

Apple TV+ is set to debut the documentary series “Monster Factory” on March 17. The six-episode series tells the story of aspiring wrestlers training at a wrestling school in New Jersey, hoping to make it big in the professional world with the help of their devoted coach. The series is directed by Galen Summer and Naiti Gámez and produced by Vox Media Studios and Public Record.
The “Monster Factory” team is led by Danny Cage, the owner and coach of the wrestling school. Twitch, a member of the team, credits wrestling with helping him overcome depression and Tourette’s syndrome. Bobby Buffet, a New Jersey native, works at a fast-food restaurant during the day but is an unstoppable force in the ring. Gabby Ortiz, a Philadelphia native and former political worker, faces her past tragedies in the wrestling ring. Lastly, Goldy, who struggles with social anxiety, finds a sense of power and control in the spotlight of wrestling.
Meet the Team
Monster Factory owner and inspirational leader Danny Cage. Being a former wrestler, Danny understands the need of maintaining the team’s morale through training and the inevitable rejection that may lie ahead.
It’s safe to say that wrestling literally saved his life, as Twitch says. Twitch sought refuge in wrestling during a low point in his life. Being the only person in Monster Factory with Tourette’s, he turned a potential disability into an asset. Will his own personal demons, however, prevent him from progressing?
Bobby Buffet, a shy and unassuming New Jersey native, has a lot more going on than meets the eye. He works as a burger flipper at a fast food joint during the day, but when he enters the Monster Factory, he transforms into the ravenous Bobby Buffet. Can he summon the self-discipline and confidence in his own leadership to finally step out of the trainer’s corner?
Philadelphia native and former mayor’s office employee Gabby Ortiz experienced meteoric rise to wrestling glory before being sidelined by tragedy. Now that she’s back, though, the question is whether she can truly move on and accept the modern wrestling scene.
Goldy is the heartthrob of the group. Behind that chiseled bad-boy facade is a man who uses wrestling to cope with terrible social anxiety. In the ring, he transforms into a different person, one who is unbeatable. However, will the stress of public scrutiny become intolerable?
All six episodes are available to stream on Friday, March 17.
