Things are about to get even wilder in the wilderness, as “Yellowjackets” returns this Sunday. Summer has arrived, bringing with it a change in sporting activities. Soccer, apparently, isn’t brutal enough for these survivors, who trade the relative civility of the pitch for a new, more contact-heavy sport. One shudders to imagine what that might entail.
Meanwhile, a funeral, of all things, provides an unexpected opportunity for group therapy, though the setting isn’t exactly conventional. Instead of hushed tones and somber reflections, the Yellowjackets find themselves processing their collective trauma at a local bar. Because nothing says grief counseling like a pitcher of beer and some questionable karaoke.
Misty, never one to shy away from the spotlight, continues her quest for self-discovery, or perhaps, self-invention. This week, she explores a new facet of her already multifaceted personality. Whether this involves interpretive dance, amateur taxidermy, or something even more unsettling will undoubtedly be a highlight of the episode.
And amidst the chaos, Tai and Van continue to walk the blurry line between friendship and something more, their relationship as enigmatic and unpredictable as the wilderness that surrounds them.
“Yellowjackets” airs Sundays on Paramount+ with Showtime.
