The stunning 100-mile stretch of Yorkshire coastline takes centre stage in this new documentary series, looking into the lives of those who call this place home. From the bustling seaside resorts of Saltburn and Scarborough to the ever-changing sands of Spurn Point, the series captures the essence of this proud county.
In the first episode, we meet the Robson family from Bridlington, proud guardians of a generations-old fishing tradition in the North Sea. They embark on a journey up the Yorkshire coast to Whitby for essential boat repairs.
The episode also introduces us to the dedicated volunteers at Bempton Cliffs, affectionately known as Yorkshire’s “seabird city.” Their tireless efforts to protect and preserve the vast population of seabirds that nest on the chalk cliffs are truly inspiring.
We also join a group of intrepid sea swimmers in Scarborough’s South Bay for a unique full-moon swimming experience.
Yorkshire By the Sea: Episode 1 airs on Channel 4 at 8:00 pm on 5 August 2024.
