In this fifth episode of Yorkshire Great and Small, Dan Walker and Helen Skelton are travelling through the breathtaking landscapes of Swaledale and Wensleydale, following in the footsteps of James Herriot, author of ‘All Creatures Great and Small.’ They explore the natural beauty and hidden gems along the Herriot Way, starting in the village of Keld, known for its stunning waterfalls.
Helen meets with Alf Wight, son of James Herriot, to learn about his father’s love for the Dales, while Dan checks in with sheep farmer Ronnie Bailey and dry-stone waller Rod Marsh. Helen takes a dip in the stunning Aysgarth Falls, and Dan and Helen visit Bolton Castle, where they learn about the final days of famous resident Mary, Queen of Scots.
Their journey is filled with fascinating encounters, from racehorse trainer Micky Hammond to builder David Peacock, who is bringing new life to an historic mill.
