The rolling hills of the Yorkshire Dales are calling, and so are the animals in need of care. “The Yorkshire Vet” returns for its 20th season this Thursday, bringing with it a new batch of heartwarming animal stories and the usual dose of veterinary drama. Following the lives of dedicated vets across four different practices, the series offers a comforting blend of animal antics and medical expertise.
In the season premiere, Peter Wright lends a hand to a young farmer whose sheep are having trouble giving birth, while Matt Smith tends to a pair of father-and-son otters at the local zoo. Julian Norton faces a more serious challenge, performing surgery on a beloved collie named Callie. And at a pig sanctuary, Rohin Aojula treats a rescue piglet with a badly torn ear. As if that weren’t enough, a power cut at the animal hospital in Huddersfield throws the entire team into disarray.
Narrated by the familiar voice of Christopher Timothy (who, for those who remember, played James Herriot in the original TV version of All Creatures Great & Small), “The Yorkshire Vet” continues to offer a gentle escape to the countryside, where the bonds between animals and humans are celebrated. Tune in to Channel 5 on Thursday, March 27th at 8:00 pm for the season 20 premiere.
