Well, that escalated quickly. Abby and Devon’s nuptials on The Young and the Restless on Thursday, took a decidedly fiery turn when Phyllis, never one to miss a chance for dramatic flair, wound up unconscious in her flaming car. Was it an accident? Or something more sinister? The tire tracks at the scene certainly hinted at foul play, leaving Nick, and most of Genoa City, itching for answers.
Meanwhile, Sharon’s post-crash behavior could generously be described as “erratic.” Her furtive glances, panicked whispers, and cryptic conversations with a shady character named “Jordan” – not to mention Ian Ward’s presence and talk of a successful plan – painted her as the prime suspect. Her hallucination of Nick only intensified her guilt, ultimately pushing her to confess to needing his help. Which, naturally, only raises more questions. Did Sharon steer Phyllis into a ditch? Or is this another classic case of Y&R misdirection?
Amid the wedding-day mayhem, business in Genoa City continued apace. Jill, apparently experiencing a health scare, decided to sell Chancellor to Victor. This didn’t sit well with Billy (shocker) and put Diane in a particularly precarious position. Victor, never one to miss an opportunity for manipulation, offered Diane control of Glissade – with the delightful caveat that she fires Kyle. Just another day at the Newman ranch.
And because no soap opera wedding is complete without a little extra interpersonal drama, Audra decided to share her rather unconventional (read: cynical) views on marriage with the assembled guests. Because who needs a celebratory toast when you can have a philosophical debate about the institution of matrimony?
The Young and the Restless airs weekdays at 12:30 PM on CBS.
