Robert De Niro, making his small-screen debut, stars as a former U.S. President in Netflix’s upcoming limited series Zero Day. The streaming giant has just released the first teaser, offering a glimpse into the high-stakes cyber-terrorism thriller.
De Niro plays George Mullen, a former president called upon to lead a commission investigating a catastrophic cyber attack. The attack cripples the nation’s infrastructure, resulting in widespread chaos and a tragic loss of life. The series explores the intersection of personal ambition, unchecked power, and the spread of disinformation across technology, Wall Street, and the halls of government. As Mullen searches for the truth, he’s forced to confront his own buried secrets.
The six-episode series boasts a stellar supporting cast, including Angela Bassett, Lizzy Caplan, Jesse Plemons, Joan Allen, Connie Britton, and Matthew Modine. Guest stars include Dan Stevens, Bill Camp, Gaby Hoffmann, Clark Gregg, and McKinley Belcher III.
The series, created by Eric Newman and Noah Oppenheim, is helmed by Lesli Linka Glatter, who directs all six episodes.
The teaser is set to air during Netflix’s Christmas Day NFL games on Wednesday, December 25, 2024. Zero Day premieres on Netflix on Thursday, February 20, 2025.
