Gino’s culinary journey around the Italian coast concludes in the spectacular Aeolian Islands. During the series, Gino travelled over 630 miles along Italy’s amazing coastline, discovering world-class produce and meeting local artisans who create incredible ingredients using traditional methods.
He has travelled by boat, car, train and trusty moped, and his tour has taken him to Tuscany, Lazio, Calabria, Naples, the Amalfi Coast and to the famous island of Elba.
In this final episode, Gino heads to the Aeolian Islands. Sitting just north of Sicily, the volcanic archipelago is often featured on bucket lists, and Gino discovers what makes these little islands so special. He visits the contrasting islands of Salina and Panarea to discover their contribution to Italy’s cuisine – which turns out to be extensive.
Hollywood actor Robert De Niro is a frequent visitor to the Aeolians, and Gino finds out what keeps him coming back. Gino also has a watery encounter with a creature of the deep.
