The documentary series presented by Piers Morgan returns to ITV on Thursday 22 June at 9.00pm, in a quest to discover what drives a woman to kill.
In the first episode, Piers visits Lowell Correctional Institution in Florida to meet Rebecca Fenton, found guilty of the brutal
murder of her husband Larry. Despite fighting to clear her name, Rebecca will remain in prison for the rest of her life.
In a remarkable encounter, Rebecca seems to have an answer for everything and in a fascinating game of cat and mouse, Piers has one crucial question: did she really shoot her husband at point blank range? As he delves into the case, Piers discovers a compelling motive for murder – divorce would have meant the end of Rebecca’s extravagant lifestyle. Larry’s death would make
her a rich woman. But as detective Kerri Spaulding explains, all the evidence the police had at the time was circumstantial.
For several years, it seemed Rebecca was going to get away with murder. In Clearwater, Florida, Piers meets detective Mike Hasty, who began working on the case four years after the initial investigation. Hasty says he knew that Rebecca was guilty, he just had to prove it.
In a final sad encounter, Piers meets Rebecca Fenton’s biological mother Karen, who gave up her baby for adoption. Reunited in recent years, Karen expresses her love for her daughter but admits for the first time that she believes Rebecca to be capable of murder.
