Prince: Last Year Of A Legend airs Tues 2 Jan on Channel 4

Prince Last Year Of A Legend

This documentary goes behind Prince’s public persona to reveal a man hitting a new creative peak both as an artist and activist during the 12 months leading up to his tragic death from an overdose at the age of 57.

Through interviews with Prince’s closest friends and music stars like George Clinton and CeeLo Green, the programme examines the key events of the music legend’s last year, beginning with the Rally 4 Peace concert for riot-torn Baltimore in April 2015. Prince followed that with a secret gig at the White House playing for the Obamas and guests, two new albums, and the Piano & A Microphone Tour where he played solo for the first time in his career.

The programme ends by unpacking what led to his unexpected death from an overdose of a powerful opioid painkiller at his home Paisley Park in April 2016.
