Sam Smith sits down with Fearne Cotton for this BBC Music special on BBC One, airing on Thursday 9 November at 8.00pm on BBC One, a world-exclusive hour-long entertainment event. Oscar and Grammy Award-winning Sam Smith will perform new tracks from his eagerly awaited new album, as well as classic tracks, accompanied by his band and the BBC Concert Orchestra. He’ll be talking to Fearne about his career, music and his life to date.
The one-off 60-minute special from BBC Studios, filmed in front of a live studio audience, will include songs Sam has never previously performed before for a TV audience.
Sam says: “I’m so honoured and thankful to the BBC for giving me this opportunity to showcase some of my new music from my album in this amazing, intimate setting. I can’t wait to sing some old songs and have a big old sing along with everyone.”
Fearne says: “As I’ve adored Sam’s voice since he performed on Radio 1’s Live Lounge in 2015, I jumped at the chance to present this show. I can’t wait to see him again, watch him perform new and old tracks and chat to him about his music and life.”
Sam Smith At The BBC follows in the footsteps of Adele At The BBC and Michael Bublé At The BBC, both BBC Studios productions.
Broadcast in November 2015, Adele At The BBC, presented by Graham Norton, was nominated for Best Entertainment Programme at the Bafta Awards. A sketch within the programme, which saw Adele impersonate herself, broke the BBC YouTube channel record by gaining over 60 million views.
Sam Smith At The BBC airs Thursday 9 November 2017 from 8.00pm-9.00pm on BBC One.
