The Good Life Complete Series One DVD Review

Acorn Media UK / Region 2 / Released 29 march 2010

Hard to believe that it is some thirty years since the fabulous Tom and Barbara Good arrived on our screens. Written by John Esmonde and Bob Larbey this all time great sitcom is being released for the first time in proper series order and series one arrives at the end of this month via Acorn.

Starring the superb quartet of Richard Briers, Felicity Kendal, Penelope Keith and Paul Eddington the series taps into the popular seventies concept of self suffiency, a concept in fact that is probably just as relevent today as it was then given our current precarious financial status with Tom and Barbara (Briers and the gorgeous Kendal) giving up the rat race and living off the land, with the twist that they stay in their much loved suburban home, much to the initial disgust of well to do neighbours Margo and Jerry Ledbetter (Keith and Eddington).

Full of wonderful laugh out loud moments and truly memorbable performances, The Good Life is a series to savour.

Main extra on this two disc set is an interview with writer Bob Larbey and the remaining three series will be released througout 2010.
