2.4 Children (BBC-1 1991-1999, Belinda Lang, Gary Olsen)

Sitcom 2.4 Children subverted the typically suburban sitcom format telling stories of the Porter family. Bill ran a catering business with best friend Rona and Ben was a plumber specialising in hearing repairs, his assistant was the none too happy Christine.

The show’s title refers to the fact that 2.4 is supposed to be the average size of a UK family.

Clare Woodgate who played daughter Jenny when the series began, changed her name to Georgina Cates to audition for the movie An Awfully Big Adventure and won the lead role.
