Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore (ITV Sitcom, Dora Bryan)

In ITV sitcom Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, shown as part of the anthology series Six of the Best, piano teacher Olive Taplow (Dora Bryan) suffers unwanted attentions when she moves into a flat that was formerly occupied by a ‘lady of the night’. Alf (John Alderton), Pop (Charles Carson) and Eddie (John Collin) were removal men. Much of the plot revolved around a misunderstanding when a ‘client’ rings to make an appointment.

Reviewing the comedy in The Daily Mirror (Thurs Aug 12, 1965) Kenneth Eastaugh felt that Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore didn’t make enough use of Dora herself saying “basically dithery Dora wasn’t enough and the play was too dithery by hand.”
