Amos ‘n’ Andy (CBS 1951-1953, Alvin Childress, Spencer Williams)

Sitcom. Exploits of two working class black men living in Harlem. The pair mainly got involved in exploits suggested by George ‘The Kingfish’ Stevens (The Kingfish being his ‘lodge’ title). This show popular at the time (and from a long running radio series), later became unacceptable from the sixties onwards(at that time it was in syndication). The series was highly stereotypical in its portrayal of people of color and since 1966 has largely remained unseen.
