Atletico Partick (BBC-1 1996, Gordon Kennedy, Aline Mowat)

Sitcom. A run down pub football team are determined to get back to their glory days.A pilot episode was broadcast 28 Aug 1995.

Written by Ian Pattison, Atletico Partick is a comedy series which follows the (mis)fortunes of an ailing pub football team in Glasgow. New coach Jinky Baird is a one-time soccer legend whose hard-drinking habits got the better of him, but he’s still a charismatic figure – `charismatic’ being a football euphemism for “off his chump”.

Meanwhile, team captain Jack Roan is experiencing domestic strife, with wife Karen complaining that the nearest thing she’s had to a sexual thrill in the last four months was when she fondled some peaches in Safeway. Atletico Partick is produced by Colin Gilbert and independently made by the Comedy Unit. Casting to be announced.
