In Sitcom Barney Is My Darling, Barney Pank (Bill Fraser) retires from a life at sea. His wife Romana (Irene Handl) is less than impressed at having under her feet.

The pair quickly realise they actually have very little in common any more. Barney having spent most of his life at sea and Romana busy with her own life running a hairdressers. Worse still it’s clear to Barney that her pet dog means more to her than he does!

Barney Is My Darling was created especially for Fraser by Barry Took and Marty Feldman, the pair having worked with him on the highly popular Bootsie and Snudge.

Guest stars included some well known names such as Kenneth Cope, Ronnie Barker, Ken Jones, Peter Cleall, Dudley Foster and Ronald Adam.
