Betty Driver Show, The (BBC 1952, Wally Petterson, Betty Driver)
Fortnightly BBC comedy variety The Betty Driver Show of course starred Betty Driver who is best known for her long running role as barmaid Betty Turpin in Coronation Street but from the 1930’s to 1950’s was a popular comedy and singing star. This series was a mixture of stand up comedy, sketches and musical items. Wally Peterson, one of the Peterson brothers musical trio appeared each week and Betty later married him.
Other regulars included Geoffrey Sumner, Harry Jacobson, Tom Macauley, Elizabeth Maude, Elizabeth Cruft and A. Huntley Gordon.
