Buffy The Vampire Slayer (The WB 1997-2003, Sarah Michelle Geller)

Buffy The Vampire Slayer was a hugely popular fantasy adventure series. Each generation a girl is born to become the world’s only Vampire slayer, young high school student Buffy Summers is born to that role, which she reluctantly assumes, especially as the town where she lives, Sunningdale, is choc full of vampires.

Assigned to watch over Buffy was school librarian Giles and Buffy’s friends Willow, Xander and Cordelia were also roped into helping her. Not content with fighting Vampires Buffy also tangled with Witches, Demons and even on one occasion a giant praying mantis. Angel, Buffy’s love interest was a centuries old vampire turned good who after sleeping with Buffy reverted to his evil ways (having suffered a gypsy curse).

Season two saw the evil Spike and Drusilla appear to try and torment Buffy and Co. By the start of season four Buffy and her friends were starting college. Season five amped up the action and in a fateful act of sacrifice Buffy gave her life to save Dawn.Of course she was back for season six, revived in a magic spell by her friends. But the experience had changed her, and ultimately the show, forever. The seventh and final season saw Buffy and Co taking on the evil Turok-Han vampires and the weird preacher known as Caleb.

There was also a spin off called Angel featuring that character of course.

The show was based on a 1992 film of the same name that starred Kristy Swanson as Buffy.
