Crime drama series Burnside was a spin off from The Bill which saw one of that shows most popular characters Frank Burnside (Chris Ellison) take over as head of a new police unit, part of the National Crime Squad.
Burnside was equipped with two new partners the black and homosexual Dave Summers (Justin Pierre) and the attractive action girl Sam Phillips (Zoe Eeles) (whom Burnside had a frisson of sexual chemistry with despite the big age difference). Each story was carried over two episodes.
