In the drama Caught in a Trap, Gemma Perkins (Connie Fisher), who feels her life and job (emptying car park meters) is boring, has one real passion in her life, Elvis Presley. Gemma begins to steal money from the meter boxes and uses it to fund her love of Elvis memorabilia. Things soon begin to spiral out of control.
Based on a true story, this is at heart quite a sad piece with a redemptive feel. Connie Fisher had made a name for herself by winning a the reality TV show “how do you solve a problem like Maria” which took her to a starring West End role in The Sound of Music. The supporting cast was particularly strong too with roles for Jim Carter and Geraldine James as Gemma’s parents.
