Champion House (BBC-1 1967-1968, Edward Chapman, Nicole Maurey)
Drama series Champion House was set in the textile industry and concerned a domineering mill owner and his family. Adair and Ling were the creators of ITV’s Crossroads and the BBC’s Compact and whilst not strictly a soap Champion House contained plenty of soapy elements.
Writers included the dependable likes of Martin Worth, Anthony Skene, Ian Stuart Black and Roy Russell whilst directors included Terence Dudley, Henri Safran and Ian Macnaughton.
Guest stars were not overly high profile but familiar faces popping up included the likes of Terence Alexander, Anne Stallybrass, Ros Drinkwater, Barbara Shelley, Mark Kingston, Paul Freeman, James Beck, Peter Bowles and Anthony Ainley.
