Chesapeake Shores (Hallmark 2016, Meghan Ory, Jesse Metcalfe)
Based on the novels of the same name by New York Times bestselling author Sherryl Woods, the series launched with a two-hour movie, followed by eight one-hour episodes. The multi-generational family drama of “Chesapeake Shores” follows Abby O’Brien (Meghan Ory), a high-powered career woman, divorcee and mother to twin daughters, who makes a trip from New York City to her hometown of Chesapeake Shores.
Her visit home brings Abby face to face with her past, including her high school sweetheart Trace (Jesse Metcalfe), her uncompromising father Mick (Treat Williams) and her esteemed grandmother Nell (Diane Ladd). Abby realizes the toll her career has taken on her ability to be a hands-on mother to her daughters, and considers a permanent move to Chesapeake Shores.
In Season 2 Abby now balances a budding relationship with her former high school sweetheart, Trace (Jesse Metcalfe), working for a firm that does business with her uncompromising father Mick (Treat Williams) and raising two school-aged daughters. Living back in her hometown means engaging in the lives of her siblings: Jess (Laci J. Mailey) a free-spirit trying to succeed as a bed and breakfast proprietor; Bree (Emilie Ullerup), a playwright who buys a bookstore in Chesapeake Shores after moving home from Chicago; Kevin (Brendan Penny), a soldier adjusting to civilian life and new romance; and Connor (Andrew Francis), a new lawyer establishing his professional career. Having returned to Chesapeake Shores shortly after Abby, the O’Brien’s once-estranged mother Megan (Barbara Niven) strives to reestablish relationships with Abby and her siblings, though the O’Brien clan primarily looks to its wise grandmother Nell (Diane Ladd) for guidance.
