Billy Ray Cyrus Cyrus stars as a handsome, country doctor from Montana who falls for a successful, beautiful magazine writer from New York City. He gives up his simple life and moves to the Big Apple. Life in New York begins well enough, where Doc’s down-to-earth bedside manner and compassion endear him to the patients at a big HMO. But Doc’s colleagues turn on him when he begins making house calls and treating patients who can’t pay. As Doc fights for the right to practice his brand of old-fashion medicine, his romance unexpectedly goes sour. Doc finds himself alone and friendless in the big, cold-hearted city. But when a dying woman pleads with him to care for her son, Doc finds a new meaning for his life. The touching story kicks off with a special two-hour movie event.

In addition to Cyrus, the cast of Doc features Richard Leacock who portrays Nate, a police officer who befriends Clint; nine-year-old newcomer Tyler Posey as Raul, the orphaned youngster who wins Doc’s heart; Andrea Robinson as the always perky Nurse Nancy; Derek McGrath as Dr. Derek, the HMO doctor who often sides with Doc; Ron Lea, whose Dr. Crane is Doc’s ultimate nemesis; and semi-regular Ruth Marshall as Ms. DeWitt, the administrator of the HMO who runs things with a velvet hammer.

It ran from March 11, 2001 to November 28, 2004 on PAX. Although set in New York City, all the episodes were shot in and around Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
