Doctor Zhivago (ITV1 2002, Keira Knightley, Sam Neill)

Romantic period drama. Yury Zhivago is a young doctor who lives with his aunt and uncle and cousin Tonya in Moscow. He sees a girl, Lara, in a café window and falls in love with her. Lara is desperately unhappy in a relationship with a much older man – Victor Komarovsky – a man whom Yury feels is responsible for his father being driven to suicide. To escape his clutches Lara marries Pasha her childhood friend and runs off with him. Meanwhile Yury marries Tonya and gets embrolied in the Russian war. But Yury and Lara’s paths are destined to cross again.
