In ITV sitcom End of Part One typically normal suburban couple Vera (Denise Coffey) and Norman Straightman (Tony Aitken) find their lives being constantly interrupted by people from the world of TV. Not actual TV stars but parodies and so on with actors such as Sue Holderness, Fred Harris and Dudley Stevens popping up the most frequently.
The series was the first from Andrew Marshall and David Renwick of 2 Point 4 Children and One Foot in the Grave fame. It grew out of a radio series called The Burkiss Way.
Season one was shown at the odd time of Sunday afternoon’s at 5.30pm in the lead in to religious programming slot. Season two was shown even earlier on Sunday afternoon at 4.00pm.
