Australian TV
Far Country, The (Channel 7 1987, Michael York, Sigrid Thornton)
Mini series The Far Country took place after the end of world war II when Czech Doctor Carl Zlinter emigrates to Australia’s Victorian High Country where he meets and falls in love with Jennifer Morton.
The story, based on a popular novel by Nevil Shute, was previously filmed by the ABC in 1972 in a 6×60 minute version. This 1980’s version rode in at the tail end of the Australian mini-series boom that had in itself been helped by the huge popularity of the version of Shute’s A Town Like Alice.
