Father Charlie (ITV 1982, Lionel Jeffries, John Savident)
In this short lived sitcom eccentric vicar Father Charlie (Lionel Jeffries) is chaplain at the Sisters of St Winifred’s convent. Much of the humour revolved around Father Charlie’s disagreements with Reverend Mother Joseph (played by Anna Quayle). He was solid working class and she had delusions of grandeur. Charlie had also only converted to the cloth later in life and held some quiet worldly views.
Cast: LIONEL JEFFRIES as Father Charlie; JOHN SAVIDENT as The Bishop; ANNA QUAYLE as Reverend Mother; JAMILA MASSEY as Sister Lucy
