For Maddie With Love (ITV 1980, Nyree Dawn Porter, Ian Hendry)

Daytime drama series For Maddie With Love was a twice weekly soap opera about the Maddie (Nyree Dawn Porter) of the title who discovered she had just a few months to live.

Even though Maddie was dying the series retained a sense of humour, she had been married to 25 years to husband Malcolm (Ian Hendry). The first season ended with Maddie dying with the second season focusing on the family coming to terms with her death.

Ian Hendry departed the series on 24 October 1980 and the action switched to the lives of Eleanor West (Jan Holden) and Jack West (Robert Lang). Jack was a close friend of Malcolm and Maddie. Malcolm and Maddie’s sons Nick and Neil did stick around though.
