Gentleman’s Club, A (BBC-2 1988, William Gaunt, Richard Vernon)
Sitcom telling stories of the members of Gentleman’s Club, The Albany, in London’s Pall Mall, especially Aubrey (William Gaunt) and George (Richard Vernon). The Albany is very much your archetypal stuck in the last century type establishment.
It was an all male preserve apart from the occasional ladies dinner evening and even then the women were forced to eat in a different room.
Cast: William Gaunt as Aubrey; Richard Vernon as George; Jill Meager as Ann; Christopher Benjamin as Willie; Rupert Frazer as Quentin
Writer: Richard Gordon / Producer and Director: Sydney Lotterby
UK / BBC Two / 6×30 minute episodes / Broadcast 23 September – 28 October 1988 Fridays at 9.00pm
