Goodbye Mr Steadman (ITV 2001, Lenny Henry, Caroline Quentin)

A teacher goes on a hiking holiday. Unknowingly he had upset a computer whiz-kid pupil before leaving and when he returns he finds his entire life has been electronically erased and everyone thinks he died in a terrible accident while away.
