The real story of the early academic life of physicist Stephen Hawking (Benedict Cumberbatch) when at the age of 21 he is diagnosed with motor neurone disease with a prognosis giving him only a few years to live.
The drama shows Stephen as he works out some ground-breaking mathematical theories describing the nature of the universe while struggling with the onset of his debilitating condition.
In 2014 Eddie Redmayne played Stephen in the movie The Theory of Everything and won the Oscar for best actor.
