In three part comedy drama Honky Tonk Heroes Big Hal (James Grout) fancies himself as a modern-day cowboy. He’s the owner of the Blue Moon Of Kentucky Club, a country and western club in South London. His wife, Betty (Sheila Steafel) doesn’t approve of his obsession with cowboy life and country and western music.
A two part feature in the TV Times for the week of the show’s premiere focussed on the real life Country and Western music scene in the UK especially the people who liked to dress up.
Writer Ray Connelly was no stranger to the music scene and had previously scripted classic 1970’s movies That’ll Be The Day and Stardust.
