If … (BBC-2 2004)

A series of future-set “documentaries” exploring various scenarios that might result if solutions to some of today’s problems are not found. Dramatic scenes are interspersed with real experts explaining the implications.

1) If … The Lights Go Out – Britain’s over reliance on imported gas supplies for electricity generation is exposed in a particularly harsh winter;

2) If … Things Don’t Get Better – estate residents use private security firms to protect themselves from society’s criminal elements;

3) If … The Generations Fall Out – the younger members of society resent the older generations who now outnumber them and burden the social security system;

4) If … It was a Women’s World – women have triumphed in the battle of the sexes and men fight back;

5) If … We Don’t Stop Eating – overweight people are denied NHS treatment and fast food is heavily taxed.
