Incredible Mr Tanner, The (ITV 1981, Brian Murphy, Roy Kinnear)

Sitcom The Incredible Mr Tanner told of the exploits of street entertainer and escapologist Ernest Tanner and his assistant Sidney Pratt. Ernest isn’t a particularly good escapologist, but the pair somehow manage to earn enough money to get by. When they’re not working, Ernest and Sidney spend their time in a seedy cafe run by Archie (Tony Melody).

The characters (with different names) were first seen in an episode of The Ronnie Barker Playhouse and the series Kindly Leave The Kerb.
