Last Of The Blonde Bombshells (BBC Drama, Judi Dench)
In comedy drama Last Of The Blonde Bombshells, written by Alan Plater, when the now ageing Elizabeth (Judi Dench) thinks back to her time playing in an all female big band during world war II. She decides to try and get the band back together to perform at her granddaughter’s school concert.
This was lavish high profile production with an equally high profile cast, including a rare appearance from Leslie Caron. It made ample use of flashbacks back to the second world war and also featured plenty of tunes from that era.
