Little House, The (ITV-1 2010, Lucy Griffiths, Francesca Annis)

Thriller tinged drama The Little House takes your classic Gaslight am I going mad plot and gives it a nice little twist. when Ruth marries high flying Patrick she is more than pleased to find herself welcomed into his family, especially as Ruth grew up an orphan without a family of her own. When Patrick suggests that they move into a house on his parents property Ruth is not 100% certain they should but with a new baby on the way decides it might be for the best after all.

Soon after having the baby Ruth begins to feel increasingly isolated and becomes more and more convinced that Patrick’s mother Elizabeth is trying to not only control her life but also take her baby away from her.

Nicely atmospheric and well cast (let’s face it’s always good to see the likes of Francesca Annis and Tim Piggott-Smith on our screens) The Little House scores highly with us. Writer Whitmore also wrote crime drama series Identity. Lucy Griffiths, best known for playing Maid Marion in Robin Hood here looks very different with a blonde hairdo.
