Macbeth (BBC Drama, Patrick Stewart)
High flying stage director Rupert Goold makes his film debut with this scintillating version of his highly acclaimed stage production which started life at the Chichester Festival Theatre before taking both the West End and Broadway by storm.
Goold brings the action forward and the setting is a never identified central European country where things are on the verge of collapse. The production was filmed in the environs of the underground tunnels and rooms beneath Nottinghamshire’s Walbeck Abbey which gives the whole thing an air of intenseness and unpredictability.
