Period drama series Monsignor Renard was an interesting series for John Thaw, the series was set in the 1940’s French town of St-Josse-des-Bois, where Catholic Priest Augustin Renard finds himself involved with the resistance and trying to help the people of the town against the invading German forces.
Monsignor Renard was one of Thaw’s last series, he died a couple of years later in 2002.
