Natural Causes (ITV 1988, George Cole, Prunella Scales)

Based on a long running stage production Natural Causes is a mix of farce, thriller and poisoned rubber plants!

Starring George Cole, Prunella Scales and Leslie Ash, Natural Causes follows the misadventures of businessman Walter Bryce who has hired a company called Exodus who specialise in the “disposal” of your loved ones. Walter wants rid of his wife so he can marry his younger more attractive mistress but when “suicide merchant” Vincent turns up things get decidedly murky. Has he been hired by Walter or his wife Celia?

Part classic farce and part thriller Natural Causes was penned by the famed Eric Chappell who also gave us the superb Rising Damp. The plot twists and turns all over the place and keeps you guessing (and laughing) right to the end.
