Now You See Her (Sky 2001, Amanda Holden, Joe Absolom)

In crime thriller Now You See Her Jessie is a serial con woman who bites off more than she can chew when pulls off a con involving investor Alan, moving on to Manchester she comes up with a scam to steal a Damien Hirst art installation worth over a million pounds. She needs to win over museum boss Mark but hasn’t reckoned with Alan tracking her down.

Entertaining enough but curiously dated, almost like an episode of Stay Lucky or the like. The central concept is quite strong after all much of the concept of modern art is in the concept not the finish and it is not beyond the realms of possibility that the con could be pulled off. A bigger budget would probably have helped especially in regards to the action set pieces towards the end.

Writer Jones gets around the tricky subject of Jessie being basically not very nice by showing her softer in being an emotional support for her gay partner Lewis and also by the fact that she begins to fall for Mark the man she is out to con.
