Number One Ladies Detective Agency (BBC-1-HBO 2008-2009, Jill Scott)

One of the cutest crime drama series you’ll see in a long long time is The Number One Ladies Detective Agency, based on the best selling series of novels by Alexander McCall Smith.

In this sumptuous series filmed on location in Botswana, the very lovely Jill Scott plays Mma Precious Romotswe who uses the inheritance left to her by her father to open up her own private detective agency.

Being the only female private detective in Botswana Mma Romotswe feels fully entitled to call her new business the “No1 Ladies Detective Agency” she is joined by loyal secretary Mma Makutsi (played by Anika Noni Rose) who is famed for scoring 97% in her secretarial exams whilst on the romance side she is pursued by local garage mechanic Mr J.L.B. Matekoni (played by Lucian Msamati).
