Sitcom On The House took us on to the worksites of Thomas Clackwood and sons, a firm of builders. Gussie Sissons (Kenneth Connor) was the bolshy chief labourer who was always looking for ways to get the lads out on Strike. Site foreman was Charlie Cattermole (John Kinkin).

Guest stars included Hermione Baddeley, Patrick Newell, Brian Glover, Madeline Smith, Imogen Hassall, Milo O’Shea, Patrick Troughton and Paula Wilcox.
