Park Ranger (ITV 1979, Norman Bowler, Richard Gibson)

Family drama series that also mixed in plenty of adventure. Produced by children’s TV adventure specialist Chris McMaster who also made late sixties and early seventies classic Freewheelers.

The series followed Park Ranger David Martin working at Bearsdale National Park. Paul Graham was his young assistant and also involved were vet Margaret and her teenage daughter Katie. As the series begins Paul has only just arrived at Bearsdale and immediately gets off on the wrong foot with Katie. Colin was the helicopter pilot attached to the park and managed to feature in just about every episode.

Plot lines were actually quite tough and included a young boy missing in the park; Katie getting held hostage by an escaped convict and crooks in search of valuable mineral deposits.
