Playhouse: Unexpectedly Vacant (ITV 1970, Alison Leggatt, Dulcie Gray)

In drama Unexpectedly Vacant an ageing pair of married actors realise that now they are in middle age they are never truly going to make anything of their careers beyond the down at heel world of summer rep and dismal digs.

The couple were played by real life marrieds Michael Denison and Dulcie Gray had been stars of the British screen for three decades by the time of this production, their own stardom contrasting nicely with the lack of it from our play’s couple.
