Restless (BBC-1 2012, Hayley Atwell, Rufus Sewell)

Thriller Restless spans from world war II to the 1970′s when in 1976 Ruth Gilmartin discovers that her mother Sally has been for years living an extraordinary double life. She discovers that her mother’s real name is Eva Delectorskaya and that she was a spy for the British Secret Service during the second world war.

As we move back into the past we discover what led to Eva being recruited by English spy Lucas Romer. The duo also quickly begin an affair but when a mission in the united states goes awry it seems that danger is everywhere and so Eva becomes Sally and goes on the run.

Brilliantly made, Restless also benefits from a fabulous cast. Both storylines, the 1930’s and 1970’s are equally absorbing.

Rufus Sewell as Lucas and Hayley Atwell as Eva.
