Scotland’s Nevis mountain range can take your breath away. But its awesome beauty can have a cruel heart – as all too many have tragically discovered. Set in the fictitious town of Glentannoch in the Highlands of Scotland, Rockface follows the lives and loves of a volunteer Mountain Rescue Team brought together by their passion for the hills and dedication to saving lives.
The action in the series was based on real life rescues that the Lochaber Mountain Rescue service had been involved in.
Main players were Gordon Urquhart (Clive Russell), Douglas McLanaghan (Brendan Coyle) and Annie Craig (Zoe Eeles). Mark Womack as Harry Clark; Cal MacAninch as Ben Craig; Richard Graham as Mike Bayliss; Jan Harvey as Jane Chamberlain; Rory McCann as Adam; Melanie Gutteridge as Caroline Morrison; Jamie Sives as Peter Craig and Rupert Evans as Jamie Doughan.
The first series’ episode lengths varied between 50, 55 and 60 minutes and received a weekday 7:30pm timeslot. The second series of 8 episodes received an unusually early timeslot of 5:45pm on Sundays. Jacky Stoller produced the first season and Neil Zeiger the second.
The series was made for BBC One and lasted for 14 episodes between 13 March 2002 and 27 July 2003.
